BEYOND THE SUIT

When bespoke serves character, culture, and narrative.

FROM MONTRÉAL TO THE ACADEMY AWARDS

Chris Lavis & Maciek Szczerbowski — The Girl Who Cried Pearls

This year, Montréal filmmakers Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski were nominated for an Academy Award for their animated short The Girl Who Cried Pearls.

Sartorialto had the pleasure of accompanying them for the occasion with bespoke black tie attire, including custom tuxedos designed for the red carpet.

Moments like these remind us that formalwear often lives quietly behind cultural life — in cinema, on stage, and, at times, at the Academy Awards.

Following the ceremony, the film received the Academy Award, with the garments viewed extensively across international media.
